Rudraksha is a seed of a fruit from trees grown in India, Malaysia and Nepal. Rudraksha beads are the material from which garlands (108 beads in number) are made. Rudraksha is also used for treatment of various diseases in traditional Indian medicine. Rudraksha is often believed to symbolize the link between the earth and the heaven.
